Today’s look at the Tarrytown Daily News from a century ago on this day….
Main Street has always been filled with charming store fronts, but it appears that at number 143, there used to be somewhat of a sweatshop, if this classified advert is anything to go by. Fifty girls wanted to work in the garment trade, presumably a sort of factory floor, assembly line offer.
The Vierkant building was demolished as part of the high rise apartments on the right side of Main Street if you’re facing the river.
We particularly enjoyed this classified as well….not something you see these days.
